In the second lesson of arranging our jazz song, we finalised our structure (same structure from first lesson) as well as trying out some other improvisations. During Scout and Mel and David's duo solo, I will play the head quietly in the background. This will help us to retain parts of the original song, while also giving me some more chances to play during the song. During Mel's solo, David and I will both play the head pianissimo in the background.
I am now a lot more confident with playing the G blues scale, as I have had time to work with it, and try different improvs.
Our head in this song, is the melody/lyrics sung in the song (All The Things You Are). We're keeping a very similar tempo, but changing the the instrumentation and tone/feel. Our instrumentation only includes piano, saxophone, trumpet and vocals. The tone and feel are different to the original because we do not have the same instruments, and a different structure.
